Prior to adoption, all pets are

- Vet Checked and Healthy
- Tested for Felk/FIV
- Tested and treated for parasites
- Vaccinated (at least the first round)
- Spayed/Neutered
- Though we discourage declawing, some of our homeless pets are found in this condition. SOS will not declaw any of our pets prior to adoption. If you require a declawed cat, inquire and we can usually find cats to choose from that are already declawed.
- Disclaimer: Though we do our best, SOS and associated Veterinarians cannot guarantee the health of any pet. But SOS will disclose any known conditions. Otherwise, you can assume the pet we are adopting to you is healthy to the best of our knowledge. SOS cannot be held liable for the health of the adopted animal.

The tax-deductible adoption fee for our vet-checked cats and kittens is $75. This reduced price cannot be compared to the normal price you would pay to get similar testing, vaccinations, neuter, etc., at your local veterinarian's office. It is much lower than you would pay as an individual as our vets donate much of their time and effort to our rescue group in order to keep our costs down in finding homes for homeless pets. No one that Volunteers for SOS receives monetary payment and quite the opposite, we spend quite a bit of our own money in caring for and fostering for the animals. We pass this savings on to you as incentive to give our homeless pets the loving homes they deserve.
